Etherspot partners with Rootstock to bring Account Abstraction to the Bitcoin scaling ecosystem

Etherspot has announced a significant partnership with Rootstock, the first and longest-standing Bitcoin sidechain. This way, we want to bring Account Abstraction to the Rootstock ecosystem and thereby merge the capabilities of EVM-chains with the security of the Bitcoin network.

Rootstock, secured by Bitcoin’s proof-of-work, enables DeFi on Bitcoin by allowing direct deployment of Ethereum smart contracts through its Rootstock Virtual Machine (RVM). With this partnership, developers building on Rootstock now have access to Etherspot’s comprehensive suite of AA tools such as Prime AA SDK, ERC-4337 Skandha Bundler, Arka Paymaster, and data APIs.

These tools empower developers to create ERC-4337-compliant dApps with the following features:

  • Web2-like onboarding
  • seamless multichain experiences
  • fiat on-ramps
  • gasless transactions
  • recovery guardians

Etherspot’s documentation and developer portal provide developers with the necessary resources to integrate the ERC-4337 infrastructure into their projects.

Vitalik Buterin on the next steps for Ethereum’s Purge upgrade

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined the next steps for the Ethereum Purge.

The Purge upgrade is a protocol simplification and node resource load decrease that involves removing old and excess network history.

The Purge core goals are as follows:

  • reduce historical data storage
  • lower hard disk requirements for node operators
  • minimize the technical debt of the Ethereum protocol

Buterin noted that the implementation of the EIP-6780 during the Dencun hard fork eliminated most of the “SELFDESTRUCT” code functions. He hopes that a new EIP will completely eliminate it.

The Purge will also introduce history expiration via EIP-4444. It will limit the amount of historical data stored and allow nodes to prune historical blocks older than a year.

According to Buterin, this can significantly increase Ethereum’s node decentralizationand potentially enable a similar number of copies of each specific piece of history to be stored across the network as today.

Additionally, Buterin discussed the need to purge precompile Ethereum contracts, which have become a source of consensus bugs and pain for new EVM implementations.

With Geth deleting thousands of lines of code recently and introducing an 18-day storage window for blobs post-Dencun, the node data bandwidth is expected to reduce to 50 gigabytes.

Plena introduces enhanced dApp user experience with account abstraction SDKs

Plena has introduced a new account abstraction software development kit called Plena Connect to improve user interactions in decentralized applications.

The SDK allows developers to integrate AA without changing the existing codebase.

Despite the growing number of crypto investors worldwide, the majority still prefer centralized custodians due to the complexity of dApps and crypto wallets.

Plena leverages account abstraction to simplify blockchain interactions by offering:

  • full custody of assets
  • automated purchasing
  • ability to perform complex blockchain activities with a single click

With Plena Connect, users can trade, transfer, or bridge crypto across multiple chains seamlessly. For example, buying an NFT on a marketplace like Axie Infinity traditionally requires acquiring AXIE tokens and ensuring sufficient Ether for gas fees. Plena Connect simplifies this process by automatically handling the conversion and batching transactions to save on gas fees.

Grindery introduces one-click payments for Telegram’s 800 million users

Grindery, a smart wallet solution backed by Binance Labs, has introduced one-click cryptocurrency payments for Telegram’s 800 million users.

With account abstraction and bootstrapping liquidity for TON-based tokens and dApps, Grindery simplifies digital asset transactions.

To foster user confidence and enhance utility, they plan to substitute alphanumeric blockchain addresses with human-readable names for tokens available on Telegram across EVM-compatible blockchains (Ethereum, BSC, and Polygon).

According to Dune Analytics, the smart wallet is one of the most deployed account abstraction contracts on multiple decentralized networks.

Grindery founder Tim Delhaes expressed excitement about Telegram’s transformation into a SuperApp with TON: “Grindery complements Telegram’s vision by bringing the massive EVM ecosystem into the platform and delivering a native web3 experience to its billion users.”

The startup also targets mainstream merchants and e-commerce stores to onboard multitudes into web3 marketplaces through one-click payments.

Сhallenges and solutions for Shared Mempool at the House of Account Abstraction event

A panel of experts gathered at the House of Account Abstraction event in London on March 15 to discuss the challenges and potential solutions surrounding Shared Mempool.

The panel, moderated by Tom Teman from the ERC-4337 team, featured prominent figures from leading blockchain companies and organizations:
